Our pastor, Duane Logsdon, has served Cornerstone Baptist Church since August 2004. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, Jonathan and Anna. Pastor Duane has been in the ministry for twelve years. He graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he received a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry in the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth at Southern Seminary. As Cornerstone’s first full-time pastor, Duane has a passion and a vision to see God’s church fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.
Cornerstone Baptist Church is a local body of Christ with a history that dates back to Spring 2002. Constituted as a church in Spring 2003, Cornerstone is a body of believers dedicated to being Great Commandment and Great Commission Christians. Our foundation for worship, evangelism, fellowship, ministry and discipleship is Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone, as we read in Isaiah 28:16: "Therefore thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed'" (NASB). Our motto, "Building lives on Him," is also a reflection of this inspired verse - "Him" being Jesus Christ, the "author and perfecter of faith" (Heb 12:2) and the One in whom we "are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit" (Eph 2:22).
In August 2004, Cornerstone called its first full-time pastor, Duane Logsdon. Cornerstone was voted on and officially welcomed into the Savannah Baptist Association in October 2004.
In April 2008, the Cornerstone family moved from its temporary place of worship and Bible study (the Rincon Lion's Club), to its current location at 2160 GA Highway 21 South. Here we meet on Sundays and Wednesdays with each occasion offering opportunities for all age groups. Various other activities and opportunities for service are held during the week at Cornerstone.
Cornerstone is currently working on its first permanent worship/education facility. This building is only the first phase in a master plan that God has laid on the hearts and minds of the members of this local body.
